Mr.Manjunath wishes to share this with everyone

Hi Mrunal,
I am writing my experience with the UPSC's online application. If you feel this is useful, you can share it with your followers which would help them.
As you know there are 2 parts that we need to fill for completing the application.
Part 1 went on without any issues. I got an email after finishing the part1 with the number.
I started to fill part2 using the registration number. After filling few initial details, i was asked to make the payment. There were 3 options:
pay by cash in SBI after taking the printout of the sheet.
pay through online transfer by sbi,sbm or other state bank of ******
other option was to pay by master, visa card.
I opted to pay through my citibank credit card which is a Master card. I made the payment and got a message on my cellphone saying the payment was successful. After this I was suppose to get a page which should have asked for my photo, sign etc but it took me to the homepage of the part2 registration.
I entered my registration ID again only to be prompted to pay the fees again.
I was searching for an option to fix this and found an hyperlink which said update the status of any online transaction. Clicked on it but it only has options for the transaction made through SBI, SBM, SB* and not for the Visa or master card transaction.
I have sent an email to upsc and waiting for their response. Thought it might have reflected after a day and checked it after a day but in vain.
50Rs is a small amount but I felt cheated by the process of the online transaction. When things are moving at such a huge pace in Information Technology, I didnt expect this from UPSC for which I have utmost respect. Even a minute thing like online transaction could not be set up right by UPSC?
The summary of the entire story is,
I would not recommend anyone to pay through the credit card.

Manjunath

Instead of waiting for any 'reply' from them, just print the bank-challan and use it to pay the cash @SBI branch.

i paid it via visa credit card and there were no glitches at all
ReplyDeleteI will have to disagree with Manjunath here. His might be a one-off case where a problem has occured and I can understand his emotions here. It could just be a simple technical glitch with the feedback from payment gateway not reaching the application site.
ReplyDeleteI have used the Credit Card option last year and this time as well and on both occasions, it has worked like a dream. Absolutely no hassles.
I would suggest Manjunath to pay Rs.50 again and fill up the form rather than go through an agonising wait for a reply from UPSC.

Akash
Dear Manjunath
ReplyDeleteIn your case, i think you should wait for 2-3 days and ask your citibank that the amount charged by upsc has been claimed by someone or not. if it has not been claimed then u wll get refund. and using your part I registration no. you can make the payment again.
